Keystone
This course is designed as the culmination of your Quest education. A “keystone” is the stone that sits at the top of an entryway, bearing the forces from each side of the arch. It is under this keystone that you must pass to gain entry into the world beyond Quest. Behind you are your educational achievements at Quest, as you have worked through your Foundation and Concentration programs. This course draws upon the culmination of your experiences here, and lets you showcase the crowning achievement of your academic career to date.
The Keystone course is a place to finalize your undergraduate academic undertakings, reflect on the last four years, and anticipate your future. This course provides room for you to finalize and revise your Keystone project, and to design and rehearse your Keystone public presentation. Throughout the process of completing your Keystone project (that is to say, before this block) you have honed your skills of focus and deep inquiry. The emphasis of this course will be more about interdisciplinary thinking. You will consider how the subject matter of your Keystone relates to other Keystone projects, in order to emphasize the different paths to answering similar, fundamental questions. In addition, you will work on your critical thinking and analysis skills and your ability to listen effectively, quickly synthesize information and provide constructive, thoughtful and creative suggestions for your peers. In this class, you will also have opportunities to reflect on your education thus far. What have you learned academically? What have you learned about yourself? We will also anticipate your future. Where are you going next? How will you continue to learn and refine your goals and your education? What is your Question post-Quest?
